capt -jack & windy sparrow

capt -jack  fell in love with sailing in his early twenties the first time he sailed on a 16' scow.  "I was absolutely blown away with the immediate response from trimming the sails and a slight change of the helm.  Every moment was a joy of water, wind and the boat."  Shortly after that first experience he bought an 18' catamaran that was screaming fast and crazy fun.  Later, in his late 20's, -jack started a yacht charter company with a small amount of money made working as a roughneck in Utah while living in a pink house trailer.  Despite having never sailed on a yacht or on the ocean, -jack managed to build a successful yacht charter business with fleets in Antigua, Sint Maarten and Camden, Maine.  Five years later -jack sold the yacht charter business and bought a 45' sloop he named Acabar.  Eventually Acabar was replaced with a family of five children**.  When the last of his five children graduated, -jack moved aboard Evening Star, a 45’ yawl with Windy Sparrow and 15,000 nautical miles later, the two soul mates continue to sail and explore their world together.

**Children & family vs. a 45’ sailboat - “One summer afternoon as I was taking three of my children fishing in our small 14’ wooden boat I remembered one summer spent sailing and racing Acabar and thought to myself ‘I wouldn’t trade this afternoon fishing with my kids in this little wooden boat for those times…… no comparison, not even close’”.  Best memories in my life are of those with my children
